As we continue to practice from home, I realize that many people wish they had some of the props we regularly utilize in the studio. Pair this with the fact that, upon return, we will need to keep physical contact minimized so we will not be borrowing out props for quite a while. (I simply cannot keep up with laundering blankets and the extra cleaning of blocks.)
To make things easier on you, I’ll be selling some of my prop supply. Here’s how this will work:
I will not be selling my bolsters at this time. If you would like to special order a bolster or eye pillow, please let me know by Monday, April 27 and I can add to my order as I restock my own supplies. I cannot guarantee delivery before we reopen but I will do my best. These orders are through email only – you won’t find these products online and they are not for pickup.

This week’s schedule is online! You might notice that when you register via Vagaro that there is now an option to schedule for the “streaming” class – this integrates with Zoom and your reminder text/email will include your link to the class. I can’t wait to give this a try!

In a string of days that tend to feel eerily similar to the one before, I’ve found a bit of solace in allowing myself to think about after. After we get to return, after this is behind us (-ish… there will be some reverberations, and that’s to be expected.) I’m allowing myself to think about a schedule for the remainder of the spring and into the summer.
In order to do this with the most accurate information available to me, I’m asking you for a quick 5 minutes to tell me about your preferences. I’d like to know when classes work best for you, what types of classes you enjoy most, and what your experience of livestream yoga has been.
I truly appreciate your voice in these matters. While I know I can’t make all people happy, if there are themes and trends that help many of us, then I want to make those adjustments. As always, if there’s something you’d love to see over the course of the summer, let me know!

In order to keep things sustainable (and for the internet companies to keep up!) I’ve changed the schedule for our virtual yoga. Because many of us are now at home without a tight schedule AND because a group of you are using the recording version, I’ll have something for you twice each week – a Strong and a Flow class.
Classes are priced in the system as $10, but there’s a Streaming Package for $10 that includes one of each class, a nice little BOGO to make the day brighter. Don’t forget, those who are keeping the world in motion (doctors, nurses, hospital staff, retail workers, recently displaced waitstaff, small business owners) should message me for a code for free access.
Monday Meditation 8 AM – Free! Join your hearts and spirits with those of us from home. Listen to the recording:
Wednesday 9 AM Yoga Strong – sign up online to get the Zoom link and the follow up recording email. (I have a new page with all the recordings coming soon….)
Friday 9 AM All-Levels Flow – sign up online to get the Zoom link and the follow up recording email.
Love, peace and sanity to you all,
Michele

While we cannot come together in person, we can still join our hearts and intentions. I’ll be offering guided meditations periodically throughout the shutdown.
Enjoy Monday’s 20-minute meditation via Zoom and plan to join us for the next one on Monday, March 23 at 8 AM.

Sports cancelled. Restaurants closed. School on spring break. Even some work capabilities have been limited or overall released. In the words of our children, there’s nothing to do.
Now, I don’t know much about “social distancing” and have zero experience with epidemiology. But let me share for a moment something I do know something about: a resting pose.
For years I’ve watched folks enter Savasana, translated as corpse pose. Especially with those new to yoga, but even after years of practice, some people struggle with this mandated rest time. Fingers tap. Toes shake. Skin suddenly itches and clothes stop fitting comfortably.
Some of this is conditioned response, especially for individuals with a history of trauma. Our bodies are designed for a level of alertness to keep us safe and out of danger (thank you, sympathetic nervous system). This sense of ok-what’s-next-ness is part of the hardwiring.
AND.
And the undercurrent of our society has taken that hardwiring and hotwired it. We’re a culture that thrives on fear: fear of not being enough, doing enough, having enough. The millions of advertisements every day convince us that we have a whatever-sized-hole in our hearts that can only be filled by their product. Without the next, newest, nicest we will fail to find worthiness as a human.
Second to the concern of our citizens and our healthcare system is how this entire situation will affect our economy. As a local business owner, I feel this. Hard.
Here’s the tricky truth of our economic prosperity: we begin to believe that we’re only as valuable as what we can produce or consume. But we are worth far more than that.
In the weeks preceding this situation I found myself telling yogis this “doing nothing” rest pose is just as valuable – if not more so – to their overall practice as the most complicated balancing pose they attempted or mastered that day.
In the same way, as a human, you maintain the same worthiness while doing absolutely nothing as when you’re doing the most important work you do all day.
We’re being corralled into savasana – a really long, beautiful rest. Some of us cannot work fully or at all. (Some of us are working double-time and I vote we give you a break, too, when this blows over.) We’re going to find ways to wiggle around and avoid the rest: cleaning the kitchen, Kon Marie-ing our closets, creating governance over the children’s day. And while there’s nothing wrong with those things in and of themselves (it IS the perfect time for a good spring cleaning), please notice the thoughts and feelings that arise in your “uselessness” time.
You’ll hear the echoes of that other side of life: You’re not doing enough. You’re not making, consuming, contributing enough. You’re not enough.
The beauty of the Savasana is when you find that place where you can remember that you are enough. This is enough.
You’re not measured by your income, expenditures, hours logged, or GDP. There is a place deep within where you can remember this, when you quiet everything else to hear the soul whisper enough.

During these times of limited social interaction (and thus closing the studio), I’m working very hard to offer digital options that will serve our membership base along with offering something for other yogis to practice while at home for the days and weeks ahead.
On Sunday, March 15, our first Livestream All-Levels Flow will be available for free to try out the platform. Join us online at 6 PM at https://zoom.us/j/987452188 (no password is required). I highly recommend jumping online prior to 6 to get yourself settled. You should be automatically muted, but it doesn’t hurt to double check.
Beginning Monday, March 16, I’ll be offering a livestream class of various sorts each day. These classes are for purchase and you’ll be emailed the login and password information at least one hour prior to the class. If you can’t make it at that exact time, the class will be recorded and you will be sent a link to view at your convenience. The link should be sent within an hour of the end of class.
Each class is listed on the regular schedule via Vagaro and you can register a la carte, but to be more cost-efficient you can get them all as a package for just $20. *You will need to register for each class individually for which you want to receive links.*
For ALL MEMBERS (whether unlimited, 4 classes/month or 8 classes/month): these online offerings are now included in your membership. When you register online it should ring you to $0. If you have issues, please don’t pay – email or text me.
Our first week’s online schedule is:
Monday 9 AM Guided Meditation (20 minutes) – $5 or included in the weekly package
Tuesday 6 PM Yoga Strong (60 minutes) – $10 or included in the weekly package
Wednesday 10 AM Children’s Yoga (30 minutes) – $5 or included in the weekly package
Thursday 6 PM All-Levels Flow Yoga (60 minutes) – $10 or included in the weekly package.
I’m going to evaluate at the end of the week to see if schedule changes are advantageous or necessary. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated!
A signed waiver is required to participate in the livestream options. If you’ve practiced with me before and have filled out your form, you’re all set. If you’ve not been in the studio, please fill out this waiver and email it back prior to class beginning.
